We Were Seeds: A Bandana Made for Right Now
‘We Were Seeds’ bandana comes in Sunshine Yellow, Soft Blue, & Rainbow Tie Dye
This design is really special to me. The “We Were Seeds” bandana features the message: They tried to bury us. They didn’t know we were seeds. It’s surrounded by hand-drawn florals, hearts, and rainbows—symbols of resilience and joy, even in hard times. I was inspired by the look of 1960s textiles and block prints, with a slightly psychedelic feel, though I drew everything by hand.
“It’s meant to feel like something passed down and passed forward—like an heirloom of resistance.”
This phrase has been used in activist spaces for years, and it still hits hard. Right now in this country, we’re seeing people’s rights being stripped away—especially LGBTQ+ youth, trans folks, and anyone who dares to live joyfully and unapologetically. This bandana is for all of us who keep blooming anyway.
It comes in a few colors, but I’m especially proud of the rainbow tie dye version. When you buy that one, 20% goes directly to The Trevor Project, which offers crisis support to LGBTQ+ youth across the U.S. It’s one way we can help plant something good in the face of so much cruelty.
If you’re local, I’ll have these for sale at four events events through the month of June (two of them are Prides) —come say “hi”, snag a bandana, and celebrate with us. We’re still growing, Sugars, even when the world tries to bury us.
Thanks for listening,
Val
