Inspired by El in Stranger Things

the stranger things title floats over an image of a woman wearing a blue bandana, imitating El's training outfit. Her hand is forward as if she will use her powers on you and she looks into camera.

When I watched Eleven’s opening scene in Stranger Things Season 5, I immediately honed in on her outfit 👀. The sweats, the custom trainers, and that BANDANA! Iconic. Check out the reel I made about it here. Then read a little more below!

I’m not an 80’s era superhero, but I CAN interpret her outfit for a modern workout.

Here’s my interpretation of her look. I’m not much of a wedgie-styled-shorts-over-sweats kinda gal. Maybe because I was actually born in the 80’s, and lived the toxic workout culture… but I digress… anyhoo! I do love a textured legging with a crop for that almost monochrome look. My bright blue Midwest Made 100% cotton bandana just felt right for the series based in Indiana. Then I threw in some scrunched tube socks leftover from my power-lifting days, and here we got a twist on a vintage viiibe ✨.

Go slay some demodogs, or maybe just leg day. 🏋🏻‍♀️

Style Tip!

Lotsa people tell me they can’t wear a bandana on their head because it slides around too much. But you can, I promise! I have a tiny little dome and very slippery hair—worst case scenario. I’ve found you can definitely make it work by tucking the knot under a low ponytail (or two). This also makes the look a little more modern and a lot less commando, like El’s was.

While you’re here, shop my angsty 100% cotton bandanas.
